The most effective Training Methodology for Hearit is a 3 step
progression for the child which starts with individual therapy, moves to
small group training and then on to a classroom orientation. This
remediation technique for children with normal peripheral hearing or slight
hearing loss has proven successful with children with phonological/central
auditory processing disorders and language and learning
delays/disorders/disabilities.
One on One
- The Hearit Perfect or the Hearit SE are used for remedial one on one
training therapy.
- The classic use of Hearit for individual training is to read text aloud
with the directional microphone hand-held near the speaker's mouth or worn
under the chin on a lavalier. This auditory reinforcement technique is
highly effective for extending attention and comprehension skills. Children
with processing problems will oftentimes comprehend the text after the first
reading, rather than the fourth or fifth time.
- 45 day trials are available upon request which provide the opportunity to
confirm that the prescribed instrument(s) is effective.
- Documented case studies are provided on this site to demonstrate the
effectiveness of Hearit with different disabilities.
Small Group
- The equipment extension for the Hearit Perfect or Hearit SE allows the
instructor to provide training sessions for up to four students.
- Many clinicians report that training therapy in small groups is more
motivational.
- It is important that the clinician also wear one of the headsets to
better monitor the training progress of the students.
Classroom
- The Hearit Broadcaster with cordless headset microphone may be connected
to the Hearit SE and provides the remedial instructor with a portable
clinical broadcast system for the classroom setting.
- After successful individual or small group therapy with Hearit, remedial
instructors report "losing their kids" when they return to the classroom
without amplification. The Hearit Broadcaster matches the unique "crisp"
frequency response of our clinical instruments and is used for phonic drills
or any classroom learning activity that requires better attention and
comprehension.
- When using the Hearit Broadcaster & Trainer, teenagers often comment that
things sound weird or different. Their adjustment to hearing sounds more
clearly may take a few sessions. It is important for the clinician to "hang
in there" for the big league benefits that will follow with the child's new
improved auditory perception.
- The use of the Hearit Broadcaster enables the student to adapt to a
natural noise-filled environment while making speech predominant over noise.
- Don't miss the opportunity to have the students wear the cordless headset
microphone when they read their book reports or during phonic training.
Students often hear how they sound to others for the first time and are able
to make immediate adjustments to their speech.
